Martin Ødegaard is hot

Form is the number DraftIcon PL watches, and Martin Ødegaard is at 8.0, high enough that his card burns in the packs this gameweek. Below: whether he starts, whether he is fit, what he costs, and whether the form survives the next fixture.

Availability

Will Martin Ødegaard start?

  • No flag against him in the FPL data
  • Started 3 of the 3 gameweeks played so far, 221 minutes in total

Nobody outside the club knows a line-up before it is announced, so the honest version is what the data shows: whether he carries a flag, how often he has started, and how many minutes he has actually played. Martin Ødegaard has started every appearance so far, which is the strongest available signal short of team news.

Is Martin Ødegaard injured?

No injury designation against Martin Ødegaard in the Fantasy Premier League data as of 2026-09-08, and no official note attached to him. In DraftIcon a flagged player carries the warning on the card, and anyone ruled out is not offered in packs at all, so you cannot draft a player who will not play.

Injury notes change during the week, usually after a press conference. This page is rebuilt from data rather than from reporting, so treat it as the state at the time above and check the club before a deadline.

Market

Martin Ødegaard FPL price and ownership

Martin Ødegaard costs £6.6m and sits in 13.1 per cent of Fantasy Premier League squads. Fantasy Premier League expects 8 points from him in the coming gameweek. Those are the official numbers, not our estimate.

Ownership is worth reading twice. A low number next to a high form means the rest of the field has not reacted yet, which is what people mean by a differential. A high number means you are buying what everybody already owns. Neither is automatically right, but they are different bets.

The verdict, with its limits

Is Martin Ødegaard worth owning?

In a season-long game that question means committing a squad slot for weeks, and it deserves more than a form number. What the data supports is narrow and worth stating exactly: he is 8.0 on form, costs £6.6m, and the official projection for the coming gameweek is 8 points. Everything past that is judgement, including ours.

In DraftIcon PL the question is smaller and therefore easier. You are not buying him for the season, you are deciding whether to spend one pick in one draft, and the roster expires afterwards. A card that turns out to be wrong costs you a weekend.

The question that matters

Will the form hold against SUN?

Next up: away at SUN, rated difficulty 3 of 5. That is a neutral matchup: nothing in the fixture argues against the form, and nothing flatters it either.

Form looks backwards and a fixture looks forwards, which is why the card carries both. The traffic light you see on it is exactly this number, precomputed when the pool is built so it costs nothing while you draft.

The record behind the number

Martin Ødegaard form and points this season

Points in each gameweek so far. This is what the form value is made of, rather than a number you have to take on trust: one big haul and two quiet weeks read very differently from three steady returns, even when the average is identical.

The run ahead

Martin Ødegaard next fixtures

The next 5 matches with the difficulty the Premier League itself assigns to each one. A single easy opponent is worth less than a run of them, which is the whole argument for looking past the next gameweek.

In a weekly draft that run matters less than it does in a season game, and that is the point: you decide again next gameweek, with the fixture in front of you rather than the one in six weeks.

In the app

This is where the card turns up.

Real footage: a pack opens, the cards fly in, one of them goes into your eleven. A hot card looks exactly like it does at the top of this page.

Mark Martin Ødegaard as a target and he turns up more often

The Research tab ranks the whole pool and lets you mark players as targets. A marked player appears more often in your packs, which costs nothing and is the only way to influence what you are dealt.

Everything on this page sits on the card itself while you draft: the projection, the opponent and the traffic light. You are not expected to have read anything beforehand.

How to play it

What a hot card is worth in a draft

A hot card is not simply a better card, it is a card the pack machinery treats differently. Now and then one of the gameweek's hot cards is placed into a pack on purpose, and only that placed card burns: it glows, it flickers, it carries the label. A card with strong form that turns up on its own gets a small chip instead.

And none of it locks you in. The roster expires at the end of the gameweek, so a hot card with a hard fixture costs you one weekend rather than a season. That is the point of a weekly redraft.

Ten hot cards. One gameweek.
